Introductory Training of Trainers Course on Cybercrime and Electronic Evidence for Judges, Magistrates, and Prosecutors of the ASEAN Region

 

The Department of Justice - Office of Cybercrime, in partnership with the Council of Europe, conducts the Introductory Training of Trainers Course on Cybercrime and Electronic Evidence for Judges, Magistrates, and Prosecutors of the ASEAN Region, on 20-23 March 2018, at Sofitel Philippine Plaza, Manila, Philippines.

The training is being participated by all ASEAN Member-States (AMS) and will focus on both the substantive and procedural aspects of the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime, after which the Philipppine domestic law, Republic Act No. 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention of Act of 2012 is basically patterned after. By the end of this training, it is expected that participants will know and understand the nature and evidential implications of cybercrime cases, as well as the available instruments and approaches to international cooperation.

Ultimately, this training aims to establish a cadre of trainers who will be able to cascade knowldge and instruct their colleagues in view of the regional trainings that will be further conducted within the ASEAN region. With this training, prosecutors and judges within the ASEAN region will be provided with courses addressing cybercrime laws and  the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime vis-a-vis the appreciation and application of electronic evidence when resolving cases.
